Print[ferro-alloys.com] Aniron ore miner in north-west Western Australia is bucking the trend of slowing mine investment, with Atlas Iron announcing a $146 million project.
Some work at the Mount Webber mine has already begun, and with major construction being completed over the coming months, mining is expected to begin before the end of the year.
Atlas managing director Ken Brinsden thinks negativity around investment in the industry is being overstated.
"With the iron ore price that we receive today, our operations make a pretty healthy cashflow.
"Whilst people have taken a pretty negative view as to where they think the iron ore price might go, the reality today is that we actually get a pretty healthy price and we think there's good money to be made."
