Many suppliers said they opted not to do long-term contracts based on formula pricing. “It would have been too risky,” said a trader, “but at the same time, this is why we have fewer businesses to quote.” There is speculation that the differential between 99.3% Co and 99.8% Co will shrink to nothing because so much 99.8% Co is looking for a home and Russian cobalt is well sold under contracts.
