Both US and imported reinforcing bar (rebar) prices dipped slightly this week.
The Argus rebar ex-works Midwest was assessed at $1,080-1,130/short ton (st), compared to $1,120-1,130/st last week. Rebar ddp import Houston was assessed at $1,060/st, compared to $1,060-1,080/st last week.
Shipments remain strong and domestic mills are maintaining full rolling schedules, so domestic producers faced little incentive to lower prices, despite what is expected to be a lower scrap trade in June, one market participant said.
