[Fellow]The profits of China's major industrial firms rose 2.6 percent year-on-year in July.
 [Ferro-Alloys.com] North China's Shanxi province plans to reduce 18.95 million tonnes of coal production capacity by closing 18 coal mines this year.
 
Twelve of the 18 coal mines to be closed have an annual output of 600,000 tonnes or less, according to a work team tasked with guiding the work to cut overcapacity of the province's coal and steel industry.
 
The profits of China's major industrial firms rose 2.6 percent year-on-year in July, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Tuesday.
 
This is a drastic rebound compared to the 3.1-percent decline in June.
 
Elkem’s result for the second quarter of 2019 was negatively impacted by a steep decline in silicones prices.
 
Total operating income for the second quarter 2019 was NOK 5,882 million, which was down 17% compared to second quarter 2018. EBITDA amounted to NOK 647 million in the quarter, down from NOK 1,971 million in the corresponding quarter last year. Earnings per share (EPS) was NOK 0.25 in the quarter.
