WASHINGTON, D.C. – The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported today that for the month of December 2018, U.S. steel mills shipped 7,804,093 net tons, a 0.4 percent decrease from the 7,832,092 net tons shipped in the previous month, November 2018, and a 6.5 percent increase from the 7,328,247 net tons shipped in December 2017. Shipments for full year 2018 were 95,279,566 net tons, a 4.8 percent increase vs. 2017 full year shipments of 90,886,717 net tons.

A comparison of December shipments to the previous month of November shows the following changes: hot rolled sheets, up 2 percent, cold rolled sheets, down 6 percent, and hot dipped galvanized sheets and strip, down 6 percent.
