[Ferro-Alloys.com]The main price of electrolytic manganese metal in the Chinese domestic market as of May 7 is CNY10,200 - CNY10,400 per ton, down by CNY500 - CNY600 from the end of April.

There have been the producers which refrain from selling while showing reluctance to sell goods considerably below cost, but the supply of cheap products has continued, and many of market watchers think this downward trend will continue for another while. (Hereinafter, price is per ton)

In China, the days from 1st to 3rd of May were a holiday owing to Labor Day, but the main price of electrolytic manganese metal on May 4 after the holidays were over was CNY10,600 - CNY10,800, down by CNY100 - CNY200 from the end of April. Even after that, the price continued to drop every day and dropped to CNY10,200 - CNY10,400 on May 7 as aforementioned.

Such factors for continuous price drop are provided as (1) Price of manganese ore in China dropped by CNY30 which was equal to CNY250 - CNY300 as a production cost of electrolytic manganese metal and (2) Chinese major stainless steel mills reduced the purchase price of manganese billet drastically by CNY1,520 from the prior month.
