For the second time, Qatar Solar Technologies (QSTec) announced it would build a polysilicon in Ras Laffan Industrial City, north of Doha. The plant is expected to have an initial capacity of 4,000 mtpy but will be expanded to 8,000 mtpy. Operations at the $1-billion facility are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2013. QSTec selected Centrotherm Photovoltaic to be the technology and equipment provider.
