On 15 January, at an extraordinary general meeting, the shareholders of REC Solar approved the sale of the company to Bluestar Elkem Investment (Hong Kong).

The Elkem Group is set to acquire REC Solar Holdings AS and all of the assets and liabilities of REC Solar at a cash purchase price of NOK 4,340 million. Closing of the transaction is expected during the first quarter of 2015.

- By combining Elkem Solar  and REC Solar, we will create a leading, fully integrated solar company with a strong basis for further development and growth. The two companies have a strong strategic fit and will create value from optimizing Elkem Solar’s proprietary technology for energy efficient production of solar silicon with REC Solar’s leading global brand, strong distribution channels and reputation for quality.
