World crude steel production was 156.8 million tonnes (Mt) in August 2021, a 1.4% decrease compared to August 2020.

The country reported the first year-on-year contraction in crude steel output in late July since the start of 2021, eyeing a 3.03-percent decrease.

China's crude steel production declined last month, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The output in late July also dropped 3.97 percent from that in mid-July, the association said.
